The Rouen Clair is a modern development of the traditional Mallard-coloured ducks from the Rouen area of France. It is distinguished from the Rouen by the pale (Isabelle clair) ground colour of the female, the slightly upright carriage and a number of other characteristics common to the light-phase plumage.
Duck decoys were intended to fool other ducks into settling into the water near where the decoy floats. Ducks see the wooden decoy and assume the area is safe. Since the nineteenth century, duck decoys such as this one have been a tool used by hunters and sport to increase the number of birds they catch.
I'm no ornithologist so you might cry fowl for my duck identification—it may seem quackers. Check with your CPA for de-duck-tiability.
