Colloquia (or Colloquies) by Desiderius Erasmus is a collection of Latin dialogues, first published in 1518, that began as language exercises for students but evolved into witty, satirical critiques of Renaissance society, religion, and human folly, covering topics like superstition, monastic life, and social customs with irony and humor. The work became a significant text for Christian Humanists, offering moral lessons and insights into 16th-century life, and remains culturally important today.
This three-volume set has spines and corners bound in premium leather, demi-maroquin (half-Morocco). The gold gilt lettering on the spine is bright, the marbled paper sides are clean, and the top edges of the pages are gilded (têtes dorées). The internal text sheets are crisp with little to no foxing (brown aging spots).
